Thanks to 752 respondents!
Thanks to all the helpers!

Vision4Wellesbourne is delighted by the response to our main survey.

752 people - almost 15% of the population - have completed the survey either online or on paper. According to the experts at SDC, 10% is a realistic target, and what we've achieved is extraordinary.

This was only possible through the efforts of the Task Group and the additional volunteers recruited at the drop-in sessions who delivered two waves of flyers to every home in the village during October.

We've also been talking to special interest groups like shops and businesses, and this process too is nearing completion.

The team is now working on the data which will be one important part of the final strategy document which will be produced over the coming months.

Thanks again to everyone for their contributions.

On the second flyer, we tried to help the Fire Service by publicising their safety check and free smoke alarm installation service. They've not been overwhelmed with calls. You can still ring 01789 293271 to take advantage of this offer.

Chedham’s Yard Trust
is now a company.

The first hurdle of creating a charitable trust to manage Chedham's Yard has been cleared with the setting up of a company limited by guarantee. The company has three founding directors and the Parish Council has nominated Tony Copeland and David Close to serve as Trustees. The application to become a charity is now with the Charity Commissioners. Once set up, the charity will have up to eleven trustees, including the founding directors and the Parish Council nominees, and will be able to enter into a lease of the site with the Parish Council. At the same time, the Parish Council plans to novate the contract with the Heritage Lottery Fund to the Trust so that the Trust takes over all the financial management of the project.

Once these stages are completed, the contracts for the renovation works and the erection of the visitors' centre can be let and it is anticipated that work will start on site in the New Year.

In the meantime, plenty of work is going on to prepare for opening next summer.

St Peter’s Tiddlers’ pre-school

We have just begun our second half term but by the time you read this there will only be a few weeks until Christmas!!

This half term we have been exploring festivals. We began with Diwali, the Hindu festival of light. The children made diva lamps from clay and painted them. We also made some amazing Rangoli patterns with coloured rice. In the role play we dressed in saris, ate Indian food and played with rice. Soon we will be following the journey Mary and Joseph made to Bethlehem and learning about why we celebrate Christmas. Rev'd Wendy will be supporting us in church and in pre-school. She has a lovely craft activity planned for the children!

The children love singing and our counting and calculating is often achieved through song. The children have been making gloves that depict their favourite number songs. These have included five little ducks, ten fat sausages and the staff's favourite five little men in a flying saucer!

In the outdoor area we have been busy planting bulbs, making a guy for the school bonfire and preparing for the arrival of the new planters courtesy of Wellesbourne in Bloom.

If you have time, go and visit the Christmas tree festival at the Methodist church. The children have chosen to theme the tree using ‘The very hungry caterpillar’ by Eric Carle. This seemed to involve a lot of glitter!

Thank you to everyone who came along to the autumn fayre. We have a great fundraising team. Look out for our stalls at the school Christmas fayre, s+ peters and at the S+ra+ford Christmas markets. We also go out with the Lions accompanying Santa which is great fun.

If you are interested in a place for your child from September 2011 it is important you contact us as soon as possible. We recommend you visit a number of pre-schools before choosing which setting suits your child's needs. We do have a waiting list as places are limited. If you would like to read our OFSTED report on line our number is 200773. You are welcome to call into the setting at the church rooms from 9.30-11.30 Monday to Friday term time or telephone 01789 841359 to arrange a visit.

Finally we would like to wish everyone a happy and peaceful Christmas and new year.

The correct answer is: Open the refrigerator, put in the giraffe and close the door. This question tests whether you tend to do simple things in an overly complicated way.
Now the second question. How do you put an elephant into a refrigerator? When you’ve considered your answer go to page 5 to check.
