Parish Plan
The analysis of the results from the survey is almost complete, and Tony Copeland gave some first feedback to the Council Meeting. Thank you to all the 752 (so far) people have responded. Without stealing the thunder of Vision4Wellesbourne, key concerns expressed are Speeding traffic, Flood Risk, Heavy Lorries in the village, and dog mess both on pavements and on play areas and Sports Fields.

Thanks are due to Vision4Wellesbourne, and particularly to Tony Copeland, and were expressed both by members of the public and the Council.

Flood defences
The Emergency Committee met on 9th December. The work of the Environment Agency on the River Dene is expected to be complete by the end of November. It is hoped agreement will be achieved to enable the work on the Newbold Brook to be carried out in the New Year. Warwickshire is taking part in a national exercise to test the response to flood risk, Watermark in March 2011. The Parish Council is being invited to take part.

The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on 7th December at the Methodist Hall at 7.30. All are welcome.

There are no Parish Council Committee Meetings scheduled for December. However the next Wellesbourne and Kineton Community Forum takes place at 6.30 on 2nd December at Ratley Village Hall, Chapel Lane, Ratley to which all are welcome.

Normal Service resumes in January. So a very Happy Christmas and New Year to you.

David Johnston, Chair - Wellesbourne Parish Council

Did you say, “Open the refrigerator, put in the elephant, and close the refrigerator?” Sorry I’m afraid not. The correct answer is open the refrigerator, take out the giraffe, put in the elephant and close the door. This tests your ability to think through the repercussions of your previous actions.
Now for question 3. The Lion King is hosting an animal conference. All the animals attend... except one. Which animal does not attend?
Now proceed to page 6.

The Silence

Remembrance Day at Wellesbourne

Members of the Royal British Legion, children from Wellesbourne School with Headteacher Lindsey Oscroft and many villagers gathered in the Precinct at 11am on 11th November for the Last Post, two minutes silence and Reveille.

The village has, as usual, responded magnificently to the Poppy Appeal which so far has raised well over £6,000 so far and still counting. Thank you all for your magnificent support.

With winter well and truly upon us it is no surprise to experience frosty mornings, but quite a surprise to me as I set off for work early one morning was the number of motorists happily defrosting their cars, the engine running and the driver nowhere to be seen! Lo and behold to hear that one such driver loading his van, returned to find, yes you have guessed -no van- and it was brand new and loaded. What is the answer? well, however quiet your road may seem, there may well be someone just waiting for that opportunity to jump into your vehicle. For me the answer is simple: not only does it save time and my getting unreasonably cold first thing in the morning, but it is environmentally friendly. Buy a cover, or at the very least a windscreen shield, no nasty fumes adding to the pollution whilst you leave the engine running, no de-icing gases escaping into the atmosphere, and you are away at the flick of a cover. No I don't have shares, but covers are available online or from any good motor accessories shop, at very little more than a few cans of de-icer. Think about it. Number plate thefts can cause an owner a great deal of grief. However the police are now able to offer free, special tamper proof nuts to ensure that your number plate is safe. Application forms are available either downloaded, or I can send you a copy. Please contact me if you are interested. A message on my answer phone with your address would be great or ring me after 8.30pm.
