NEWS ROUNDSt Peter’s Tiddlers
It has been a great start to the new academic year. We have been delighted how well the new starters have settled into pre-school. Welcome to Anna who has joined us as our new supervisor. Anna has early years professional status and lots of experience in other settings. We look forward to working with her. We have very good staff to child ratios and we are also joined this year by two volunteers who are studying for childcare qualifications. Having passed their level 2 NVQ's Sue and Ali are continuing their studies as well. Good luck to them. This half term we are finding out all about ourselves, each other and our families. We have been learning how to draw ourselves using pens, paint, collage materials and junk modelling. We can name different parts of our bodies and recognise different emotions. Each child has a feelings fan and we have been learning how to use these in session. We have been reading Tom Rabbit and Owl Babies to help us with this. On ‘Tuneful Tuesdays’ we have been playing instruments and trying to follow a rhythm. We like skipping round the ring with our friends. Wednesday Welly walks have begun and we have found lots of new things to look at and talk about. We have been learning to stop and have listening moments as we walk. We wear our listening ears to help us! It is amazing what you can hear in Wellesbourne. We celebrated harvest festival with Rev'd Wendy in church and the children made bread in session. We read Little Red Hen and learnt about helping our friends. Tiddlers Pre-school is tucked away in the Church rooms next to St Peter's. If you are interested in a place at pre-school in September 2012 you need to fill in a waiting list form. These are available from the church rooms notice board or from Karen on 07876 764160. Alternatively you can drop in and watch us learning through play any term time morning from 10am. We are registered to care for children from 2 years and 6 months. |

Wellesbourne & DistrictThe nights are really drawing in as we head towards the dreaded ‘Clock Change’ which means that summer is long gone and winter is on its way. Forward planning means that we are already looking ahead to the Christmas festivities. Would your charity like to join the Lions for an evening in this year's Christmas float collections? If you can offer some helpers and would like to be considered for this event please talk to Lion Max Down on 01789 841567. All charities taking part receive a share of the money collected during the event. The next major event we are presenting is ‘Mel's Magic Night’, with Mel Harvey and guests on Saturday evening, 22nd October in Kineton Village Hall. This follows on from the very funny and successful ‘Mel's Magical Mayhem’, which took place in October last year. If you didn't come along last year then this is an event not to be missed. There will be a licensed bar and a raffle. Tickets include supper and are available from Lion Rob Parton 01789 841073. A couple of dates for your diaries are Friday 25th November, when the Wellesbourne Christmas lights will be switched on and Monday 19th December for our annual ‘Carols in the precinct’. To finish this month I would like to remind all community groups in our area that we have a wonderful minibus available for hire at extremely reasonable rates. If you are a local group and think you might be able to make use of the minibus for a trip then contact Lion Paul Gibson on 01789 841730 for further information. Lion Andy Stokes |
Community Speed Watch
Speeding vehicles are a hazard in Wellesbourne and the aim of Speed Watch is to encourage drivers to observe the speed limits and thus make the roads safer. At present the equipment is being operated by only two people and they need help to make the best use of the equipment. If you feel that you could spare a little time to help to make village roads a little safer then call Hilary on 840713 or email hilaryevaduff@tiscali.co.uk or contact PCSO M. Suddaby. Christmas Treesat Thelsford John and Sue would like to thank their many loyal customers who have bought trees from us over the years. Regretfully we have decided to close our Christmas Tree business and will not be supplying trees this year. |
