TALENTS AT WALTON

Colourful tapestries by Ashley Thompson

Mice and a ceramic house by Dorothy Entwistle

Towards the end of September Walton held a Festival of Talents in St James' Church with tea and cake as well. From books of poetry and history to charming ceramics and brilliant tapestries it's utterly amazing how many talents there are in a small village. It was all organised by Christine who presided over the tea pot too. A well spent £2 and the cake was delicious.

The certificate above seems to be unique to Coventry. On completing his apprenticeship with a City firm a man was admitted a Freeman of the City. Ken Olorenshaw was awarded this in 1952; it also conveys the right to graze his cow on the common land in the city.

The pictures can only give a flavour exhibition but you can see a full colour version here.
