BIBLE SPOT

The show was only a couple of miles away and he’d begged to be allowed to go. Eventually mother gave in, packed up a bit of lunch for him and off he went.

Like most children of the time he’d only had a drink of milk that morning and, feeling a bit peckish, he ate one of his rolls on the way.

When he got there a huge crowd had gathered and he couldn’t see a thing. But, being small, he burrowed and squeezed and pushed between people's legs and eventually got to the front just in time to hear the leader say, “Ok, it’s dinner time. Just give them all something to eat will you?”

“What, here?” they exclaimed, “we’re miles from anywhere and besides we haven’t got any money.”

“Hang on,” said the big bearded one of the band, spotting the boy, “there’s a lad here with some rolls and a bit of fish, but what good’s that among all this lot?”

“Give it here.” said the leader and somehow there was enough for everyone and a bit left over.

They called it a miracle but would you give up your lunch to a stranger?

I guess if we all did, just now and again, thousands of starving people would get just a little to eat to give them some hope in a world that seems to offer so little.

And that would be a miracle too, wouldn’t it?
