INSIDE CORNER

It seems to me that some of the old 19thC statesmen were way ahead of their time bearing in mind the furore over the recent leaks of government papers. Looking through some of the archive copies of WWN's predecessor from the mid-60's I came across the following item:
Lord Acton's warning that all power tends to corrupt is often quoted. This saying of his also deserves remembering: Everything secret degenerates, even the administration of justice; nothing is safe that does not show it can bear discussion and publicity.”

Incidentally in those days they published a Weekday page for Women too!

Missing!

It's coming up to 2 years now since my small black cat disappeared from Hammond Green on 20th December 2008. After siting various posters around the village and offering rewards, I heard nothing and no one reported any news to me regarding Cherrie... After all this time, I still search for this cat when walking my dog... If anyone can offer any news whatsoever, I would be very grateful and welcome their call. My number is 07956 338331.
Many thanks to all

Sally Reeve
