Vision4Wellesbourne & Walton

Successful end to Phase One

The Walton Fête provided a perfect setting for the last of the four consultation sessions which will shape the next stage of Vision for Wellesbourne’s progress towards a plan for the future.

There was a series of displays on different aspects of village life including the current hot topics – the sports club, the village hall and housing development: but also on more general long term issues such as biodiversity and sustainability.

Another topic which generated a great deal of interest was activities for young people in the village – and many suggestions were advanced for how these could be improved. Integrating indoor and outdoor youth facilities with the revival of the sports club building was a topic that generated much comment.

As well as the specifics, residents were invited to raise any issues they felt strongly about by putting thoughts on Post-it notes under headings such as “What I love/hate about the village” and “What have we got to be proud of/ ashamed of?”

Every Post-It idea earned a raffle ticket with a chance to win £10, and over the four events, more than 300 tickets were issued.

As the Steering Committee Chairman Tony Copeland explained: “This was the last in a series of four consultation sessions which, along with an online discussion forum and meetings with businesses, clubs and societies, will determine the content of a major survey of the whole population in September. We hope to have a draft report before the end of the year, and to have it formally adopted by March 2011.”

“We were delighted with the turn out, and the very constructive way that people engaged with the problems and opportunities facing the community. There was a really good atmosphere at every session and a sense of commitment to a better future.”

The online discussion remains open on the website at

Rhythm Time

bringing/teaching music to babies & toddlers for over 7 years!

For over 7 years Wellesbourne's babies and toddlers have had the benefit of quality fun music classes provided by Rhythm Time at the Methodist Church Hall.

Age related half hour classes (2mo - 13mo, 13mo - 3yrs) run every Tuesday morning (maximum 15 per class, with a trained teacher and her assistant). Children, with their parent, grandparent or carer, can have a free taster session before deciding if they wish to join. When the children reach 3yrs they can transfer to a Rhythm Time Preschool class in Stratford, at St Peter's Mission, Manor Road on Friday mornings. There is no joining or registration fee!

These carefully structured music classes incorporate lots of singing, instrument playing, listening and dancing, as well as the children having to share and pass on instruments. Rhythm Time gives them many life skills through the learning and structure of music.
