INSIDE CORNER

In this fast changing world it’s a delight to find a little stability in our village life. We have several this month: West’s Bakery is celebrating its Centenary, now into the fourth generation; Roy & Doreen celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary, and there have been some changes since they tied the knot. Who remembers the Egg Shop and the WI Hall? The Walton Fête in its glorious setting is still prospering and still enthusiastically supported after 47 years. We shall have to do something special in 2013.

WWN is a comparative infant at 26 years old but we’ve changed quite a bit over the past few years and there may be more changes afoot. The editorial team will be hosting a coffee morning on Saturday 11th September in the Church between 9.30 and noon. We hope many of our faithful deliverers will be there and we hope you too will turn up bringing ideas and suggestions for the future, or just come along and have a coffee with us. We’d love to see you and hear from you.

Help wanted

Dear All
Would anyone be interested in volunteering 3 hours a week from September until the end of 2010 to assist me in my forthcoming busy months to Christmas?
You would need your own vehicle as some driving will be necessary to villages in our catchment area. I look forward to hearing from you if you would like to chat further.

With Best Wishes

Electric Blanket

Safety Tests
from Warwickshire County Council

Warwickshire Trading Standards Service will provide electric blanket tests FREE OF CHARGE, for people aged 50 or over, between Monday 4th October and Friday 8th October 2010.
Testing, by appointment only, will take place at the following venues around Warwickshire:

  • Leamington Town Hall Tuesday 5th October
  • United Reformed Church, Stratford-on-Avon Friday 8th October.

Don’t miss this opportunity. Old or damaged electric blankets cause a number of fires each year, which can result in injury or death. These can be avoided by simply getting your electric blanket checked.

To book an appointment, call the Trading standards Service on: 01926 736477 (Monday to Friday, 9 am - 5 pm) or email ebtesting@warwickshire.gov.uk .

Thank you

My warmest thanks to Mrs Betty Fraser for her concern and prayer for recovery in hospital during my recent operation. I would like to include others who prayed for me and would welcome a telephone call or a visit from them.
