Parish Council Notes

The Parish Council Meeting returned to a more routine pattern, with topics of familiar business.

Congratulations to Wellesbourne in Bloom for the Gold Award for the second year in succession. Thanks to all who have been involved for their hard work and enthusiasm.

All sorts of activities are going on around Chedham's Yard, led by the Friends and Emma Banks, the Heritage Project Officer. It is good to see some fun being had, to lift us out of the legal detail members of the Council are engaged in.

Work on the extension of the Churchyard will soon be under way.

By the time you read this, all the comments from Vision4Wellesbourne will have been received. We look forward to receiving the results of the opinions being put forward, and forming the basis of a plan for Wellesbourne.

The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on 2nd November at the Methodist Hall at 7.30. All are welcome.

Parish Council Committee Meetings scheduled for November are:
Emergency Committee: 9th November 7.30 at the Parish Office.
Finance Committee: 23rd November also 7.30 at the Parish Office

VISION4WELLESBOURNE

URGENT - LAST CHANCE TO DO THE SURVEY
ONLY 15 MINUTES OF YOUR TIME FOR A BETTER FUTURE

The main survey to provide the Evidence Base for the Vision4Wellesbourne will close on SUNDAY OCTOBER 31st.

You should have had a flyer and a reminder telling you about it. The online questionnaire is at www.vision4wellesbourne.org. Please log on and fill it in.

You can still get a paper copy up till Friday morning October 29th from the Parish Council office in School Road. Please return it no later than Monday Nov 1st.

We need the best possible response rate for maximum credibility with local government and charity funders and younger respondents are still wanted.

When we did the pilot survey in the spring, the under 35 age group was not well represented in the sample. We think this is happening again. If you are under 35 and reading this, please do the survey, and please tell your contemporaries about it. Encourage everyone you know to do it. If you are a grandparent reading this and have family in the village, please encourage them to participate.

We appreciate that young families and busy social lives make it harder to find the time, but do you really want a planning document based mainly on the views of older residents?

Many important topics there will be a chance for you to tell us about:-

  • Sports/fitness/leisure
  • Child and youth facilities
  • Transport/traffic/parking
  • Local economy/ employment
  • Environment/ sustainability
  • Amenities and services

And of course there will be specific sections about the two hot topics – the Sports Club and the Village Hall. We need everyone to say what they want to see happen.

It is your village and your vision. Please visit www.vision4wellesbourne.org .

Wellesbourne & District Lions

Planning is now well under way for this year's Christmas floats. We have had an excellent response from our appeal for prospective charities to come and join in the fun this year. Santa will be out and about between 6pm & 8pm on weekdays between 6th & 17th December. I am hoping to give you the full schedule in the December edition.

Please note in your diaries for 6pm on 26th November when the Christmas lights will be switched on in the precinct in Wellesbourne and for 6.30pm on 20th December, come and join the Lions for Christmas Carols in the precinct.

Please note that there has been a change of date for the, ‘afternoon of entertainment’, for senior citizens in the district. This will now take place on the afternoon of 6th November. Please contact Lion Vic Horton on 01926 640329 for more information. The event is held in Kineton but transport will be provided from other parts of the District.

The Mini Prom Concert, hosted by the Lions, which took place in September was a great success. It was a terrific evening and there was an excellent turnout. There has been some excellent feedback from those that went along. Early indications are that a profit of over £1,000 was made, which will used to support Myton Hospice and other local charities. Thanks to everyone who supported the event.

  • Christmas Floats with Santa will be touring Wellesbourne and local villages between 6-17th December to support Lions and local charities.
  • Carols in the Precinct, Monday 20th December at 6.30pm

Putting the X-Factor back into Xmas

‘Wellesbourne Churches Together’ will be arranging around 50 Christmas Nativity Cribs around Wellesbourne from 1st December to 6th January 2011.

I am co-ordinating a planned walk around Wellesbourne so that everyone can see them. We invited you to participate in this event and have one in your home. The Crib scenes are of various media, posters, 3D, picture, sculpture, etc. in various styles, Traditional and Modern. The only thing is that it must be able to be seen by the general public at ALL times.

We are delighted you are participating in this event as it will be a great asset to the village. I am hoping to publish the route of all 50 plus cribs sites in and around Wellesbourne in the December magazine so that people can see them for themselves. With this in mind no more cribs can be added to the route, So no more cribs, thanks.
