INSIDE CORNER

There have been huge posters all over the village last month or so urging us to think about the Vision4Wellesbourne survey. I hope lots of people spent a few minutes filling it in; the more we get the more realistic our Council's programme can be.

There was even a section on dog-fouling where you can make your feelings known. I did because I'd just stepped in some in the churchyard and a gentleman told me recently that, on remonstrating with someone for letting her dog roam free, he was smartly instructed to go away and mind his own business. At least that was the gist of the conversation. I wish some of the dogs that use the churchyard as a doggie loo would mind where they put their own business too.

LITTLE ANGELS

MUMS, BABIES & TODDLERS GROUP

We are hoping to re-commence our Mums, Babies and Toddlers Group on Mondays starting on 1st November between 1.30pm and 3.00pm. However, in order for this to be successful, we would ideally like two or three more helpers to help organise and clear away. The intention would be for this group to run during term time.

If you are interested in helping, can you please telephone Mrs Susan Nightingale on 842464?

Home for Christmas

Home for Christmas? Would you share your festivities with an international student at a UK university who might otherwise be stuck on an empty campus? HOST is looking for invitations for 2 or 3 days for students from China and many other countries. Hosting makes a worthwhile contribution to international goodwill. Please see www.hostuk.org or call HOST’s regional organiser Lyn Thursfield on 0121 353 1157.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present!

Posada

This is a Mexican custom where the Holy Family (in the form of a knitted Mary and Joseph) spend each night through Advent in a different household. They are accompanied by children's activities, prayers, Bible readings of the Christmas story and song along with an advent candle and a small gift. All this arrives in a basket.

The idea is that we become inn-keepers for the Holy Family reminding us of generosity, hospitality and the needs of the many who are homeless. A family or individual brings the basket to you, says a short prayer and lights the candle. The host then offers some refreshment (coffee and mince pie or something simple) and the two families get to know each other.

If you would like to join in this reminder of what Christmas is really about then please contact Wendy on 01789 840953 by 5th November. You will be contacted about a date that will be convenient for you to receive and pass on the Posada. Those who have taken part over the past three years have thoroughly enjoyed doing so.
