INSIDE CORNER

In the fifty years I've had a vote I've never missed a General Election. However, as I've always lived in a “safe seat”, I've often wondered whether my vote has any effect at all. Now we're in a brand new constituency so this time it could set the pattern for the future. Come and join in and exercise your vote – otherwise we may get the government we deserve.

GUIDE DOGS FOR THE BLIND

Our Easter chickens with chocolate egg were a huge success. Once again our thanks to the Pharmacy, Fresh ’n’ Fruity, Charlecote Garden Store and Technique for helping to raise just over £500.

The used stamp box has been emptied again and has raised a further £35.

Some of you have asked about Tollgate Breeding Centre at Bishops Tachbrook which is being rebuilt on the adjacent site, which will enable the facility to improve on its internationally recognised reputation for research into successful breeding lines and canine healthcare. Only a few bitches who may need specialist help actually whelp there; the majority have their puppies at home with the family they live with. As a fundraising branch we would like to confirm that the money which we raise goes towards the training of guide dogs and not towards the rebuild.

We had a very favourable response to our coffee morning and yes, we will hold another one, possibly in October. Our next event will be in June, at the Street Fair.

The majority of patients are living with cancer, but they also help patients with other life-limiting illnesses such as Motor Neurone Disease and AIDS. Their specialist palliative nursing care and support enables their patients to continue living at home with their families while receiving active treatment, or for as long as possible when active treatment has ceased.

It'll be another great day for all the family; we hope to see you there.
