Rainbows & Wednesday Brownies in party spirit

A great disguise

Just back from the Abbey?

Several parties seemed to start initial planning at Christmas get-togethers. Rachel Burns of Valletta Way tells me they prepared games and quizzes, including both a royal and a Wellesbourne quiz, pass the parcel for the children and pin the veil on the bride for the adults! They had gazebos too, just in case of rain.

Perhaps the biggest party was in Chapel Street, or more correctly Garden Terrace, orchestrated by Kath & David Clarke with numerous helpers. Bunting, beer and barbecues were there in plenty.

The photos are by David Clarke and you can see the whole party recorded in colour on David’s website www.dcp.uk.com/ section498153.html : select Chapel Street Royal Wedding Party.

And then there was the big day!

A cheerful crowd in Garden Terrace

Up the Terrace in Grange Gardens was another party organised by the Olver family. Altogether a fabulous day and some are already thinking about next year with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in mind.

Whilst Wellesbourne was like a ghost town all Friday morning things seemed to come alive in the afternoon with partying all over the place.

The Rainbows and Brownies stole a march on everyone by holding theirs earlier in the week. They took part in the Royal Wedding Challenge which was devised by the 1st Ness Guides to finance their International Trip to California Dreamin' 2012. Everyone who took part in the challenge was awarded a special badge designed by the Guides.

The challenge was made up of five parts:- Royal Family; Royal Wedding; Weddings; Tiaras, rings and dresses and Wedding Buffet. The girls had to choose one activity from each to gain the badge.

The sun shone on the Rainbows and Wednesday Brownies who were able to hold their joint party outside while the Thursday Brownies held a “posh frocks” party organised by two of the older brownies.
