The festival
and exhibition are in celebration of 400 years of the King James’ Bible which
was completed in 1611.
Among the Bibles on display will be a 1st edition of the King James with translations
varying from Greek & Hebrew to Urdu & Welsh together with many English
translations such as a Youth Bible, Coronation Bible, and Street Bible.
The exhibition is free and light refreshments (tea, coffee & cakes) will be
available all day.
Also in the Church will be a Scriptorium. This is where the monks
of old copied manuscripts by hand, often illuminating the capital letters with
gold and brilliant colours.
Come along on Saturday and Sunday and try your hand at calligraphy the old fashioned
way. There will be expert help and advice on hand to help.
A very important part of the weekend is the Art Exhibition illustrating events
from the Bible in any form. The prize-winners will be announced during the
interval at the concert on Friday evening.
On Friday at 7:00pm there will be a Summer Community Concert with St Peter’s Singers;
Junior St James’ Singers; Recorders from Wellesbourne CofE School and promising young solo instrumentalists from around
Wellesbourne. It’s free to go & refreshments will be on sale during the
interval. There will be a retiring collection.
ON SATURDAY THE LICHFIELD CATHEDRAL BELL-RINGERS WILL BE RINGING THE BELLS AT 10.45AM.
