Index time is here again!
The Parish Council plans to produce the
new Index of Shops and Amenities this autumn. As usual all businesses and
societies in Wellesbourne and Walton are offered free entries and can also take
advertisement space – at rates kept at 2004 levels. We aim to make the booklet
as comprehensive as possible; please give details of any new entries to the
Parish Council office (841434).

ONE-DAY ROAD SHOW IN WELLESBOURNE
With less than 100 days to the start of digital TV switchover in and around
Wellesbourne, Digital UK will be paying a visit to the village to ensure
viewers are ready for September 7, when analogue television will start to be turned off.
Latest research indicates that most viewers are well prepared and have already made
the switch to digital TV. However, those still watching in analogue are now
being urged to get ready for switchover – when Freeview coverage will be
boosted to reach virtually all homes – or risk being left with a blank screen.
To ensure residents in and around Wellesbourne are all geared up for the
switchover, the Digital UK switchover team will hold a one-off road show at
Wellesbourne Village Hall car park on School Road from 9am until 5pm on Wednesday, 13 July.
“We’re urging anybody with queries about making the change from analogue television to
make sure they visit our forthcoming road show where they will be able to
access a wealth of advice from our team of independent trained advisers and
find out whether they’re eligible to receive practical Help Scheme support.”
The switchover will take place in two stages:
7 September 2011 – the BBC2 analogue will be switched off. Viewers will need to retune their digital
equipment to pick up the available channels;
21 September 2011 – the remaining analogue channels will be switched off. Viewers
will need to retune their digital equipment again to pick up additional channels.
The Help Scheme
(www.helpscheme.co.uk)
will be writing to eligible older and disabled
people, reminding them of the assistance on offer to convert one TV set to
digital, including a choice of equipment, installation and aftercare. The help
is available for those aged 75 and over; or who are eligible for certain
disability benefits; or registered blind or partially sighted; or living in care homes.
Viewers can check their switchover date and options for getting digital TV by using the Digital UK postcode checker at
www.digitaluk.co.uk
or by calling the advice line on 08456 505050.
