Society helps to raise over £1,400 for charity.

Wellesbourne Choral Society, under the baton of Margaret Cox, (pictured on left with Tom Cox and Alison Peerman) was in concert at St James' Alveston on Saturday, 15th May. The programme which included a spectacular selection of songs from ‘Miss Saigon’, ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’ and the unforgettable tunes of the group Abba in ‘Mamma Mia’, was thoroughly enjoyed by a large and appreciative audience and helped the organisers to raise some £1,100 for the Air Ambulance and the Stratford Volunteer Bureau.

The concert was one of a series of three. On the previous evening at Stratford Methodist Church the concert had raised £310 for the charity Action for Children. The final concert was on 21st May at St Peter's Church, Wellesbourne.

The choir starts rehearsing again in September for the Christmas concerts and would welcome new members. An ability to read music is an advantage but not essential and there are no auditions. So if you enjoy singing and would like to join us, please contact our Musical Director, Margaret Cox (841826) who will be pleased to hear from you and happy to give you more details.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Dear Sir,
There is an ongoing problem with dog fouling on pavements around Hammond Green, in some instances close to the green itself and play area.

It's being done late at night or very early in the mornings so difficult to determine who might be responsible.

I know that this can be difficult to stop, but could a reminder note be added to the magazine requesting dog owners to be more responsible? (I realise that it's probably only one or two irresponsible dog owners out of a majority who are, in fact, very responsible).

Regards,

Kevin McKeown

This is a continual problem and it seems to be getting worse no matter how many reminders we publish. The real answer is to prosecute these anti-social people but the dog-wardens don't seem to be able to catch them - Ed.
