Parish Profile

Sabrina Hempelmann has managed the Coffee Stop & Sandwich Deli in the Precinct along with a similar eating place in Kineton for the past couple of years. The café began life several years ago in the corner of what was then a small supermarket before eventually taking over the whole of the shop. It has since become an important part of the village, a meeting place with a friendly atmosphere. Here customers can enjoy a chat over a Danish pastry, a Panini, an English breakfast, or whatever else takes their fancy. Sabrina also has an outside catering business in which she supplies food and meals for parties and other events. Sabrina, who describes herself as impatient, caring and a perfectionist, clearly loves everything about managing a catering business from the organisational side to meeting her customers.

Sabrina was born and grew up in the German countryside near the town of Paderborn. She has always liked to cook and helped in her uncle's catering business from when she was fourteen. She also worked for a couple of years at her parents' fish farm where they raise trout, as well as spending four months in New Zealand travelling and working. In 2005 after three years of training she qualified as a chef.

Paderborn has a prominent British presence centred around the large contingence of British troops stationed close by. That was how Sabrina came to meet her boyfriend Richard who at the time was in the army. Richard then returned to England and Sabrina came with him.

Sabrina enjoys reading especially thrillers such as those by Mary Higgins Clark. She also likes ten pin bowling. She has a dog - a black lurcher called Wizard, and a tabby cat called Rosie plus some fish. She loves Greek and Italian food.

The person she would most like to meet from the past would be her great grandmother who she remembers as a lovely and funny person. She sees her greatest achievement so far as managing the two cafés.

Sabrina has enjoyed her move to south Warwickshire, describing the local people as open and friendly. She and Richard live near Shipston, as she says “in the middle of nowhere”. She loves the peace and quiet there, a perfect place to walk with her dog across the fields.
